About us

AfterWorkNet’s mission – why we exist

To help actively retired Christians live life to the full, to help them explore areas of service and to understand what discipleship means in this phase of their lives.

AfterWorkNet’s vision – what we long to see

To see a self-resourcing community of actively retired Christians who are maximising the opportunities of their life after work.

AfterWorkNet’s people – those helping to make it happen

Having been set up under the oversight of CARE (Christian Action Research and Education), we are now independent and in the process of establishing a team of ambassadors and advisors.

Key personnel at present are –

Dave Fenton, AfterWorkNet Director

After three years trying to be an actuary, Dave moved into teaching Maths, then youth ministry, then church leadership and serving as a trustee of the Keswick Convention. Now retired, he’s still an Associate minister and a trustee of Bible by the Beach – dividing time between lecturing at Moorlands College, golf and his caravan on the Cornish cliffs.

Peter Meadows, AfterWorkNet Associate

Peter spent his working life serving the UK churches including cofounding Spring Harvest and founding Premier radio. Now he blends family, travel, and extended time in Spain with his ongoing commitment not to take life too seriously.

The word retirement is not even in the Bible. What is taught in scripture is transition. There is nothing that says you work most of your life and then get to be selfish for the next 20 years"

Rick Warren, PurposeDrivenLife
