Stress With change can come stress… It would be reasonable to believe that the end of the daily grind would bring a guarantee of inner health and happiness. If only. Instead, large numbers of those entering the joys of ‘after work’ find themselves unwell either physically or emotionally. And the reason is stress. That’s surprising, of course. We imagine stress is what happens in the work place – driven to do more with less, bombarded with constant information, while surrounded with life’s constant pressures. Yet the very act of moving from work to after-work – with all the changes involved – can be a major stress inducer. And the outcome for too many is an increase of everything from heart disease to depression. Have you found ways of coping with stress in retirement?
